A special pair has a fixed result
Ordinary combinations are resolved through breeding power. A special combination is different: the named parents produce a fixed child recorded by the game data, so the special recipe takes priority over the midpoint calculation.
This is why a new Pal may have only one valid pair while another Pal has more than one hundred ordinary alternatives.
Restricted does not mean missing data
Some species are intentionally limited to a same-species recipe or another restricted route. Others, including certain boss encounters, do not currently have a verified parent combination. PalBreed Lab keeps these states separate rather than suggesting an unsupported result.

Check new 1.0 Pals individually
New 1.0 names should not all be treated alike. Aegidron, Renjishi and Moldron have broad parent searches in the current table, while Shaolong and several other new Pals use special recipes. Panthalus and Astralym currently return no parent pairs.
Common questions
Can every Pal be created through cross-breeding?
No. Some Pals use restricted or special routes, while others must currently be obtained through an encounter, quest or another in-game method.
Why does the calculator show a Special label?
The selected parents match a fixed recipe that overrides the ordinary breeding-power result.
